How to Remove Rust From a Playmate Cooler

Playmate coolers come in a wide range or sizes and colors. There coolers keep beverages and food cold and are useful for picnics, camping, and other outdoor activities. But these coolers can become rusty over time, especially if not maintained. Rust forms on the cooler and spreads if not removed properly. There are a few simple ways to keep the cooler clean and free of rust.

Things You'll Need

• Scrubbing pad or steel wool pad
• Lime juice
• Table salt
• Paper towels

Instructions

1. Scrub off the rust with a steel wool pad or scrubbing pad. For small rust, scrubbing is usually enough.

2. Make a paste of one part lime juice and two parts table salt in a bowl. Apply the paste to the rust areas with a paper towel.

   Leave the paste on the rust for two to three hours, suggests Earth Easy.com in its article "Non Toxic Home Cleaning." The paste is effective and does not leave chemical residue on the cooler.

3. Wet a paper towel and wipe off the paste and the rust.

4. Dry the cooler completely with a paper towel.
