Instructions

    • 1

Buy some jackfruit. Fresh ones are often available at Asian supermarkets, but canned jackfruit in syrup is more common. It may be available at major supermarkets in the Asian section, or with the other canned fruits.

    • 2

Empty your jackfruit into a blender. If using fresh jackfruit, wait until it is soft and ripe, then scoop out one cup of flesh. With canned jackfruit, one can should be enough. You can pour the syrup into the blender as well. It is essentially sugar water and it will sweeten your shake.

    • 3

      Add 2 cups of milk.

    • 4

Add 2 cups of vanilla ice cream or yogurt for a thicker, sweeter shake. You may also add more milk for a thinner shake, or add ice cubes for a crushed ice shake.

    • 5

Add 2 or 3 drops of vanilla extract. If you are using vanilla ice cream or yogurt, skip this step.

    • 6

Add 1/4 cup of sugar. If you used syrup from the can, you can add 1/8 of a cup. You may also replace the sugar with honey or artificial sweeteners to taste.

    • 7

Put the lid on the blender and blend on "High" until smooth.

    • 8

Pour out the shake into a container, chill, and serve. This recipe makes 4 servings.
