How to Unlock Region Codes for Samsung

Every DVD player and commercial DVD has a built-in "region" code that limits whether the two can work with the other. A Samsung DVD player can only play a commercial DVD that has the same region code unless it is first unlocked. Once this is done, the region code of the commercial DVD will no longer matter, and it can be played in the same fashion as any DVD.

Instructions

1. Aim the Samsung DVD remote control at the Samsung DVD player. Press the "TV/DVD" button once. Press the "On" button to turn the DVD player on.

2. Press the "Eject" button to eject the DVD disk tray from the front of the Samsung DVD player. Leave the disk tray extended.

3. Press the "Time Search" button. Press the following two buttons in this order: 1, 1, 9.

4. Place a commercial DVD that has a different region than that of the Samsung DVD player onto the disk tray. Press the "Eject" button to close the disk tray.

5. Press the "On" button to turn off the Samsung DVD player once the main menu of the commercial DVD appears.
