How do I Remove Rust Stains From a Porcelain Sink?
Porcelain, like almost any other sink material, is susceptible to rust stains. The porous nature of porcelain can make it difficult to remove rust stains, especially if they sit for a long period. An effective way to control rust on most surfaces, including porcelain, is with standard white vinegar. The acid in vinegar naturally attacks rust, but you must be careful when using it, as it may cause unexpected damage. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Plug the sink drain to ensure liquid stays in the sink.
-
2
Cover the bottom of the sink with white vinegar and let it sit for 30 minutes. If the rust is on the side of the sink, you can cover it with a vinegar-soaked washcloth for 30 minutes.

3
Scrub the rust with a scrubbing sponge after the 30-minute soaking period. If the rust doesn't come out after a couple minutes of scrubbing, let it soak for an additional 15 minutes and try again.
-
4
Drain the sink and rinse any rust residue away with water.
-
5
Sprinkle the sink with a thin layer of baking soda to neutralize the vinegar and stop the corrosive qualities of the acid. This is only necessary for areas of the sink that came in contact with the vinegar. Rinse the baking soda out of the sink after it sits for five minutes.
