  1. Step 1

Buy a plain wooden wreath and decorate it with artificial autumn leaves, nuts, pinecones and berries. Add a fall-colored velvet bow. Hang the wreath on the door.

  2. Step 2

Create garlands of autumn leaves and orange and gold Christmas lights and wrap them together around any poles or columns.

  3. Step 3

Place pumpkins, stalks of Indian corn and gourds along the edges of walkways and steps. If there is room, set them up on a hay bale.

  4. Step 4

Buy a cornucopia (horn of plenty) basket and arrange pumpkins, corn, gourds, apples and nuts inside so that some of them are spilling out onto the walkway.

  5. Step 5

Twine orange and gold lights in any trees or plants near the doorway.

Tips & Warnings
  • If some of your trees are bare from cold weather, wrap garlands of artificial autumn leaves in the branches along with colored lights.
  • If you want your outdoor arrangement to last longer (or you live in an area with wild animals) use fake vegetables and gourds instead of real ones.
  • Make sure none of your decorations block the peephole in your door.
  • Check to make sure that your outdoor decorations are not in the direct line of your sprinklers.

on 11/22/2005 Buy 6 pumpkins (2 small, 2 medium and 2 large). Set them on flower pots of a decent height, in order from large to small, with large on the bottom. Between each pumpkin, wrap an inexpensive piece of fall garland. Set them on either side of your entry door. I did this for the first time, and you would not believe the compliments I received. You may have to cut the stem out of the large and medium pumpkins for them to stack nicely.

on 11/22/2005 Create beautiful, personalized name cards to place next to the plates. Everyone can take them home as a memory token. For example, "Thanksgiving 2000,
welcoming John Doe for coming to our home and celebrating this wonderful holiday. Enjoy your meal."
