on 12/30/2007 Linda Nilsen ...i agree with you 110%. i am a single parent and i very dedicated mother who wont go out for any night out leaving her girl with someone to care for. each year i stay awake to watch around the world round up of new year celebrations and when its almost 12 i wake my child up and hug her and wish her a new year and then she watches out of the window for the fireworks and we watch London big bang too. i love these brief moments more then anything in the whole wide world.

on 1/24/2006 My wife and I have our own tradition for New Year's Eve- we have steak and lobster and champagne at mid night, but we stay at home.

on 1/24/2006 My husband and I, with our children, get together with another family with children. We plan to spend the night at each other house. The kids have sleeping bags. We prepare dinner, make all the necessary preparations for celebration (toasting, confetti, etc). We prepare "Counting down the clock" bags. Each hour up to midnight the children open a bag. Each bag contains items to help us celebrate and bring in the new year. Each bag is decorated with a clock face with the hour hands positions so we know what time to open that bag. This has been a great way to get the children involved and they are really excited and stay awake for the big event.

on 11/22/2005 Listen to Kenny G's Millennium edition of Auld Lang Syne and reflect about how far we've come in all these years.

on 11/22/2005 Celebrate the new year surrounded by your friends and family, including your children. Throw a garden party, then set up the barbecue in the garden gazebo and cook sausages or burgers for snacks, or turn on the garden heater and enjoy the fireworks while listening to your favorite songs. Always remember to invite the neighbors, so they don't complain about the noise!
