How to Design a Closet With a Small Budget
Closet organizer systems are expensive and often very utilitarian in design. Designing a closet on a small budget isn't difficult, but takes a bit of creativity and a little extra footwork. The best closets are those that are set up to meet the needs of the person who uses it. When planning your closet design, consider how often you use the closet, what types of things you store in the closet and what you like and dislike about your current closet. Does this Spark an idea?

-
2
Loop the chain over the existing clothing rack and using the carabineer, create a loop. Repeat on other side.
-
-
3
Place the wood dowel or PVC pipe inside the chain loops with the chains spaced approximately a quarter of the way in from each end.
Creating a storage area
-
4
Cut 1x12 wood board to desired length, approximately 1/2 to 2/3 the width of your closet depending upon the amount of hanging space you chose.

5
Place two crates on the open side of the closet then place board on top of crates. The crates will create a space for storing handbags while the open area between is perfect for storing shoes and boots.

Tips & Warnings
Take time to clean the walls, shelves and floors so that you have a fresh space to start with.
Painting is easy and inexpensive. Paint the wood dowels, shelves and crates before installing to create a decorator look.
The crate and board shelf and be built several layers high to accommodate additional storage. If you build it more than two layers high consider securing the crates to the back wall of the closet.
Line the inside of crates or baskets with fabric to prevent snagging of scarves and sweaters.
Before you run out to buy things to organize your closets, look around your house. You may already have baskets, bins and shelving that can be re-purposed in your closet design.

This is very sensible and easy to do. You can also cut wooden boards, paint/stain them, and screw the wood boards right on the wall (like baseboards) and attach hooks to them so you can hang things on the wall perimeter. I love your ideas and appreciate them! -
