1
Wash your underarms with an antibacterial soap. If necessary, wash twice every day. Allow your underarms to dry completely before applying deodorant or antiperspirant.
-
2
Experiment to determine if an antiperspirant or a deodorant works best for you. Antiperspirant contains aluminum, which clogs the underarm pores to prevent sweating. Deodorant, which is more water-soluble, may work better for some people. Similarly, brands vary in their formulation, so one brand of antiperspirant or deodorant may work better than another.

3
Coat your armpit with a thin layer of antiperspirant or deodorant. Don't overdo, as a thick layer works no better than a thin layer, and a thick layer creates more opportunity for the material to get on your clothes, creating more stains.
-
4
Allow the antiperspirant or deodorant to dry completely before getting dressed. Avoid gels and roll-ons, which are more liquid and take longer to dry. Stick type deodorants or antiperspirants often dry more quickly.
-
5
Consult your medical provider if the problem continues. Your medical provider may be able to prescribe a topical medication or a stronger deodorant.
-
6
Rinse garments immediately after wearing, using cold, clear water. Avoid rinsing in warm or hot water, which can set the stain in and make it more difficult to remove. After rinsing in cold water, wash the garment as usual.
