How to Remove Carrot Juice Stains From Carpet

Save

Carrot juice is a healthy, natural, vegetable drink. The pigment and natural oils in carrots make it one of the more stubborn stains to remove from your carpet. Successful removal of a carrot juice stain depends on quick action, as well as treating both parts of the stain. Products from your home can be used to remove carrot juice stains from your carpet, so you don't have to use chemicals where family members and pets walk, sit, or lie.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper towels Rubbing alcohol Clean cloths Club soda Wet vacuum
  • Absorb as much of the carrot juice spill as possible with paper towels. Press the paper towels into the stain and exchange them for new towels as needed. Continue to soak up the carrot juice until there's no further transfer of juice to paper towels.

  • Pour rubbing alcohol onto a clean cloth. Blot at the carrot juice stain on your carpet. Continue to blot, using a clean part of the cloth, so the alcohol can break down the oils in the carrot juice.

  • Saturate the carpet area with club soda. Press a clean cloth against the carrot juice stain to absorb the soda and the stain. Repeat this process until the carrot juice stain is gone.

  • Remove excessive moisture from your carpet with a wet vacuum. If the water extracted from the carpet looks like there's still carrot juice lurking in the carpet fibers, add more club soda and continue to wet vacuum the carpet.

  • Allow your carpet to air-dry. Fluff the fibers with your fingers to blend them into the surrounding carpet.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can substitute white vinegar for club soda when removing carrot juice stains from carpet.
  • Carrot juice stains can get way down into the fibers of the carpet, leaving a funky smell if not fully removed.
