How to Make Simple Jalapeno Cream Cheese Roll Appetizer


Need an easy yet delicious appetizer at the last minute? These jalapeno cream cheese roll-ups are quick and easy, and require only four ingredients. This appetizer can also be made up to two days ahead of time and sliced just before serving. If you have a sensitivity to spicy foods, be sure to use vinyl or plastic gloves before handling jalapeno peppers. Mild or hot peppers can be used, according to preference.

Things You'll Need

  • 4-5 flour tortillas
  • 1 large bar cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons canned diced jalapenos in vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped

Preparing the Roll-Ups

  • Soften cream cheese at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes. Place the cream cheese in a bowl and add two heaping tablespoons of canned, diced jalapeno peppers and two tablespoons of finely chopped, fresh cilantro. Stir together untill well mixed.

  • Divide the cream cheese mixture equally on four or five flour tortillas. Use a rubber spatula to evenly spread the cream cheese over each tortilla.

  • Roll each tortilla up and place the roll on a piece of foil. Wrap each roll tightly in foil. Place the wrapped rolls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  • Unwrap each roll and cut into 3/4 inch slices. Arrange the roll-ups on a pretty platter and garnish with a sprig of cilantro or parsley.

Tips & Warnings

  • Jalapeno roll-ups may be plated to make a pretty, individual appetizer dish. Simply line a pretty salad plate with a leaft of curly, red lettuce and place three to five jalapeno roll-ups on the plate. Top with a tablespoon of pico de gallo or salsa.
