How to Use Flexible Silicone Bakeware


Flexible silicone bakeware are cooking trays, mats, molds and pans made from FDA-approved food grade silicone. The bakeware is freezer, microwave and oven safe, never losing its nonstick or flexible properties. The flexible silicone baking mat is perhaps the most versatile baking tool for pastry chefs, as you can roll out dough on it without the dough sticking, bake cookies on its surface and cool pastry on it as well.

  • Dish soap

Rolling Out Cookies

  • Place a ball of dough on a flexible silicone baking mat. Sprinkle flour on your rolling pin to prevent the dough from sticking to it.

  • Do not add any flour to the flexible silicone baking mat. The dough should not stick to it.

  • Roll the dough out from its center onto the mat. Shape your dough into cookies, place the silicone mat on a baking tray and place it in the oven.

  • Take the cookie tray out of the oven. Remove the flexible silicone mat and let the cookies cool on it.

  • Remove the cookies when they are cool. Wash the flexible silicone mat in warm water and dish soap. Let it dry completely before storing it.

Molded Cakes

  • Check your cake recipe and flexible silicone bakeware to determine if the silicone mold can take the required temperature of the recipe. Do not grease or use nonstick spray products on the mold.

  • Pour the cake batter into the mold and place it in the oven. The sides of the flexible silicone mold will flare out slightly under heat.

  • Remove the cake and mold from the oven when the cake is done. Let it cool.

  • Turn the mold over and push the cake out. It should not stick at all.

  • Clean the mold with dish soap and water water. Let it air dry thoroughly before storing it.


  • Pour muffin batter directly into a flexible silicone muffin tray. Do not use nonstick spray or muffin papers to line the cups in the tray.

  • Bake the muffins according to the recipe.

  • Remove the muffins from the oven when they are done, and let them cool in the flexible silicone tray.

  • Turn the muffin tray over and push the muffins out. There should be no sticking or muffin tops breaking off from the rest of the muffins.

  • Wash the tray in warm water and soap. Dry it completely before storing.

  • Flexible silicone bakeware does not lose its shape when it is frozen, baked or stored in cramped spaces.
  • Heating flexible silicone bakeware beyond its recommended temperatures can cause it to smoke and give off fumes.
