How to Make Your Own Peg Board
Peg boards have many purposes, including storage and organization. For example, dad can have one on a garage wall to store his tools in an orderly, easily accessible manner and mom can have one in her craft room to hold all her ribbons and bows. A pre-manufactured peg board can be somewhat costly, but you can make one for about half the price of a store-bought piece. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Line up a tape measure with one edge of your plywood and mark each 1-inch section with a pencil. Repeat this process around all the edges of the plywood, making sure that you start on the same end to mark the lines on opposite sides. This will ensure that your markings are even so you don’t end up with a crooked peg board.
-
2
Line up the chalk line with the marks and flick the line to create a straight line. Do this in all four directions to create a grid on the plywood.
-
-
3
Drill a 1/4-inch hole at the corners of all the lines you made with your chalk line.
-
4
Adjust a table saw to a 45-degree setting.
-
5
Measure 1 inch into the 2-by-4 from one end of the board and mark that line..
-
6
Line up that mark with the saw and cut down the entire length of the board to create two angled pieces of wood.
-
7
Make a line on the wall where you want to place the peg board. Use a level to ensure that the line is level.
-
8
Attach one angled 2-by-4 to the wall using 3-inch screws; use the line as a guide. Make sure that the cut part of the board is facing up and in toward the wall. You should use three 3-inch screws--one in each end and one in the center.
-
9
Attach the other angled 2-by-4 to the back of the peg board, using three 2-inch screws. Place it on the peg board with the cut facing down and in.
-
10
Fit the 2-by-4 on the peg board into the cut part of the 2-by-4 on the wall.
-
11
Slide hooks into the holes of the peg board to attach various tools and other items.
