Double-glazed windows--also known as insulated windows--consist of two panes of coated glass sealed together with a thin layer of gas in between. The gases and window coatings increase the windows' insulating properties. Window manufacturer Jeld-Wen recommends baby shampoo or vinegar to clean windows safely and effectively.
Things You'll Need
- Baby shampoo or white vinegar
- Microfiber cloths
Add 1 tsp. baby shampoo or 1 1/2 cups of vinegar to a bucket. Fill it with 1 gallon of warm water.
Wash the windows with a microfiber cloth and cleaning solution, starting from the top and working down.
Wipe the window frames with a separate cloth, rinsing it in the bucket as needed.
Empty the bucket and refill it with clean water. Use it to rinse the windows with a clean, wet microfiber cloth.
Dry the windows with a clean microfiber cloth. Wipe in one direction from the top down to prevent streaks.
