Instructions

    • 1

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. You will need to bake your ribbon to ensure that it stays in tight curls.

    • 2

Place the ribbon at the top of the dowel and secure it with a clothespin.

    • 3

Hold onto the bottom of the dowel with your dominant hand. Begin turning the dowel clockwise. Lightly hold the ribbon in between your non-dominant thumb and index finger. Your thumb and index finger will serve as a guide to ensure that the ribbon will twist into a tight spiral.

    • 4

Cut excess ribbon that falls past the dowel. Clip another clothespin to the end of the dowel to secure the bottom of the ribbon.

    • 5

Repeat steps two through four with as many ribbons as you'd like to make. For one hair bow, you'll need about 30 ribbons.

    • 6

Place the dowels onto a cookie sheet, and place them into the preheated oven. Bake the ribbons at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven when the ribbons are finished and set it aside to cool.

    • 7

Allow 30 minutes to pass to ensure the ribbons have cooled completely. Remove the clothespins and pull the ribbons off of the dowels.

    • 8

Place a string or elastic ribbon on a flat surface. Line the ribbons on top of the string and on top of each other. Make three rows of 10 ribbons each.

    • 9

Pull the string up on the sides and over the top of the ribbons. Tie the string into a double knot. The korker ribbons will bunch together and puff out like a pom-pom. Cut any visible string hanging from the middle of the ribbons.

    • 10

Slide a barrette through the string in the middle of the ribbons. The clip can now be attached to any ponytail or hairstyle.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are right-handed, hold onto the bottom of the dowel and begin turning it clockwise. Pinch the ribbon--lightly--between the thumb and index finger on your left hand. Guide the ribbon around the dowel as you turn it. This will help to ensure that your ribbons are wound tightly around the dowel. The tighter the ribbon, the tighter the curls.
