Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle your work surface with cornstarch. Take your rolling pin and roll out the fondant until it is about 1/8 of an inch thick. Use the ruler to measure and cut out two rectangles about 2 1/2 inches by 6 inches.

    • 2

Dab one side of each rectangle with water. Roll up a piece of paper towel or insert the piece of cotton inside the rolled up rectangles. Once you have rolled them around the paper, pinch the ends to form a crease and join the two sides of the bow together.

    • 3

Cut two more rectangles from the fondant to use as the tails. They should be the same size as the other pieces, but you can make them longer since they will be the tail part of the bow.

    • 4

Take a smaller piece of fondant, about 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches, to form the bow's knot. Make folds to look like the middle knot of the bow.

    • 5

Place it on top of the main bow part in the middle of the loops you have drying on the paper.

    • 6

Cut the ends of the tails to look more realistic, into a V-shape. Pinch the tops of the tails.

    • 7

Let the ribbon dry until it is hardened.

    • 8

Using icing as the glue, attach the bow and tails to your cake.
