How to Remove an Ink Stain From Denim
Ink is an important part of everyday life, as it is used in newspapers, magazines, books, printers and pens. Since humans use ink so much, it is no surprise that ink can spill onto clothing, such as denim. The dyes from ink can leave unsightly stains on the cotton fabric. Treat stains as quickly as possible when they are easier to remove. Fortunately, ink stains can be removed with certain solutions and cleaning materials. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Old, thick towel
- Hairspray
- Cotton balls
- Rubbing alcohol
- Acetone nail polish
- Damp rag

Place an old, thick towel under the stained area of the denim. Spray hairspray on the ink stain to loosen and lift the ink.

Allow the hairspray to soak into the stain for a minute, and then gently blot the ink stain with a cotton ball until most or all of the ink is gone.

Dampen a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol, if the ink stain remains. Gently blot until the stain is gone.

If the ink stain persists, dampen a cotton ball with acetone nail polish remover, and blot a hidden area of the denim. If the denim doesn't become discolored, dab the nail polish remover onto the ink stain.

Continue dabbing the ink stain with fresh cotton balls to prevent transferring the stain back onto the denim. Launder the denim according to the directions on the tag. If you cannot launder the denim, rinse the nail polish remover off with a damp rag, and allow the denim to air dry.

Tips & Warnings
Rub the ink stain with a milk-soaked cloth, if the stain is difficult to remove.
