Craft: How to Make Ribbon Flower Pens
With a few simple craft supplies and only about 30 minutes, you can transform an ordinary pen into a creative "flower pen" with a ribbon stem. A ribbon flower pen makes a great gift for a co-worker or friend who is having a birthday party. It also makes a cute gift for a bridal shower or as a gift for guests at a little girl's tea party.
Things You'll Need
- Ball point pen with a cap (color of your choice)

1
Plug in your glue gun to an outlet. Follow the glue gun package's instructions for heating the gun. You will want to make sure a glue stick is in the gun. You will heat your gun for about five minutes, but you should not leave the gun unattended.
-
2
Unroll about 12 inches of decorative ribbon. You will want to select a fabric ribbon that is about a 1/2 inch or less in width.

3
Squeeze a small dot of hot glue on one side of the ball point pen at the base (the non-ink end). Immediately press the end of the ribbon into the glue, and allow to dry.
-
4
Pull the ribbon tautly and wrap around the pen all the way up to just before the pen cap. You will overlap the ribbon. You may want to add a small amount of glue along the way if needed, but be careful with applying the glue, as it can leave marks on the ribbon that you cannot clean up afterward.
-
5
Secure the ribbon with a dot of glue just below the pen cap, and snip off any excess ribbon.
-
6
Pull off the artificial bloom from the stem, or snip it off with a pair of scissors. You want to make sure the underside of the bloom is flat. Also, consider blooms that have a wide base, such as a daisy or peony.
-
7
Squeeze a dot of glue on the pen base, and immediately place the bloom on top. Press, and allow to dry.
