How to Clean Faux Marble

Unlike real marble, faux marble can be chipped or damaged by excess heat.

A type of faux marble known as cultured marble has the look and feel of actual stone marble but is much less expensive. For this reason, it is commonly used for kitchen and bathroom counters. Faux marble is also less heavy than actual marble, making it easier to install. With regular cleaning and maintenance, cultured marble can last as long as real marble.

Things You'll Need

• Cloth
• Mild detergent
• Water
• Ammonia
• Paper towel

Instructions

1. Fill a sink or bowl with warm water.

2. Squeeze a few drops of detergent into the water and swish around to make suds.

3. Dip the cloth in the water. Wring out so that it is damp but not soaking.

4. Wipe the counter tops clean, applying pressure.

5. Rinse the cloth and wipe the counters again to remove any residue.

6. Clean counter tops quickly with a spritz of ammonia directly onto the counter tops. Wipe with a paper towel or clean, dry cloth.

Tips & Warnings

• A sponge can be substituted for a cloth.
