How to Remove Acrylic Latex Paint from Cotton

Latex paint stains can be removed easily if caught early enough.

Acrylic latex paint is one of the easier stains to treat. Because it is made with latex, it can be removed with water if caught early enough. It the paint has had time to dry, it can be more difficult to remove. Both water and stain removers can be used to treat cotton fabric that has been stained with latex paint.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Toothbrush
• Stain remover
• Laundry detergent

Instructions

1. Pour lukewarm water onto the paint stain. If the paint seems to be crusted on, use a toothbrush to break it up.

2. Apply stain remover to the stain. Choose a stain remover that is safe on cotton fabric. Let it sit on the stain for 10 minutes.

3. Run the stain under lukewarm water again. Repeat this process if necessary.

4. Wash the cotton fabric in the washing machine with laundry detergent once the stain has been removed.

5. Allow the fabric to air-dry outside.
