How to Make a Children's Fleece Scarf
Fleece is a synthetic fabric made from polyester fibers. It is very popular in winter accessories --- especially children's items --- because it is very soft and warm. But before you spend $20 on a new fleece scarf for your child, try making one for a lot less money. Fleece scarves can be made with your child's favorite colors, animals or television character. You don't need a sewing machine for this easy project, so kids can join in the fun.

1
Calculate the length and width of the scarf. Typically, anywhere between 7 to 8 inches wide by 42 to 60 inches long should be sufficient.
-
2
Mark the fabric with an invisible-ink pen or chalk, then cut the fleece depending on the size that is best for your child.

Deternime a length for the fringe at the bottom. Cut slits about ½ to 1 inch wide and about 4 to 5 inches into the scarf. You can make the fringes longer, shorter, wider or skinnier, depending on your child's taste.

Tips & Warnings
A non-pill fleece is the best finish when choosing fleece fabric. It will prevent your child's fleece scarf from balling up or pilling after several washings.
