You can add mounting hardware to a picture frame easily and quickly with tools you probably already have around your house. Use this method to hang any picture frame smaller than 11 inches by 14 inches.
Things You'll Need
- Pins or short nails
- Sawtooth mounting hardware
Check your hardware to make sure it will support the weight of your picture frame. If you have a very large picture frame, you can use two mounting hooks. Also, check to make sure your pins are not longer than the frame is wide. If they are too long, they will stick out the other end of the frame.
Lay your frame face down on a towel to protect it from scratches while you work. Find and mark the center of the picture frame with a ruler and pencil. If your frame only needs one hook, this is where it will go. If your frame needs two hooks, find the point in between the edge and the center point on both sides.
Hold the sawtooth mounting hook, teeth down, about midway down the edge of the frame where you marked your center point. Use your ruler to make sure each side is the same distance from the top of the frame and mark your spot with a pencil. If you are using two mounting hooks, it is especially important to attach them at the same distance from the top so your picture will hang straight.
Hold the hooks in place, lined up with your pencil marks, and push a pin into each hole as far as you can with your fingers. Use a hammer and lightly tap the pins in the rest of the way, keeping the pins as straight as possible.
