Choose a climate controlled facility when storing outside the home. Select a storage building with air conditioning and heat to maintain a steady temperature between 55 and 80 degrees. Having a controlled temperature will prevent warping and mildew from ruining the pool table.

2
Lay a large, heavy plastic sheet on the floor for the slate. A pool table will have three slate pieces that measure approximately 32 by 48 inches. Each piece will have a wood backing that must stay attached to the slate. Place a piece of the pool table slate on the plastic. Continue to stack the second and third pieces of slate on top of the first piece of slate. Wrap the slate tightly with the plastic and secure with tape.

5
Wrap each wood pocket in a towel. Wrapping separately will prevent the wood from rubbing together and causing damage. Secure with tape and place the pockets on the top the of rails and legs. Pockets other than wood can be wrapped together.
