Directions for a Hooded Towel
Pamper your baby with a hooded towel. When you wrap your baby up in a plush, hooded towel after a bath, the hood of the towel will dry your baby's head quickly and keep your baby warm and comfortable. Instead of purchasing a hooded towel, make your own using a simple bath towel and a washcloth. This project is simple enough for even people with limited sewing experience to complete quickly.
Things You'll Need
- One new standard bath towel
- One matching or contrasting washcloth
- Pins
- Matching thread
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
Instructions

1
Fold the washcloth in half into a triangle shape. Pin the open edges closed to secure them.
-
2
Stitch the open edges closed with the sewing machine, stitching 1/4 inch away from the raw edges. Use a simple running stitch or consider a decorative stitch if your sewing machine has this capability. Remove the pins.

3
Spread out the bath towel onto a flat surface. Position the stitched triangle washcloth at the upper right corner, matching corners and edges. Pin the triangle washcloth in place to the bath towel.
-
4
Stitch the washcloth to the bath towel along the two outer edges, leaving the diagonal edge unsewn. Sew 1/2 inch away from the raw edges. Use a running stitch or use a different decorative stitch, if you desire. Remove the pins and clip any excess threads to finish the hooded towel.

Tips & Warnings
If your bath towel and washcloth are different colors, prewash them separately before constructing the hooded towel to eliminate the possibility of colors blending during the first wash.
