How to Clean Mirrors on a Toshiba Rear Pro TV

Toshiba rear projection TVs, as well as rear projection TVs that any other brand produces, have reputations for displaying bad picture quality over time. In many cases, this is caused by dust that is covering the mirror as well as the lenses that cover the projection lightbulbs in the rear projection TV. Instead of buying a new rear projection TV set, you can try to clean the mirror and lenses in your old Toshiba rear projection TV. Do this at your own risk.

Things You'll Need

• Toshiba rear projection TV manual
• Lens cleaning cloth

Instructions

1. Read the manual that came with your Toshiba rear projection TV for added instructions on taking apart your TV to expose the mirror and the projection lightbulbs.

2. Unscrew all the screws from the back of the rear projection TV and take the back off. Make sure you take off the part that is covering the input and output connections, such as the red and white audio cable connections and the yellow video cable connector.

3. Take a very soft cloth, such as a lens cleaning cloth, and wipe down the mirror; the mirror is attached to the cover you just took off.

4. Wipe down the lenses inside your rear projection TV. See Resources for a picture of the lenses.

5. Reassemble your TV and turn it on to see if the picture has improved. If not, you may need a new set.

Tips & Warnings

• You will not be able to complete this process without the manual.

• Never work with a TV that is plugged into a power outlet. The voltage can literally send you flying.
