How to Make Liquid Chalk

Making liquid chalk can be a fun and cheap way to entertain you and your children. Instructions

  1. Made easy

    • 1

Pour 1 cup cornstarch and 1 tbsp. flour into a bowl. Add 1/2 cup water and a few drops of your desired color of food coloring. Add more or less drops depending on what color you wish to create.

    • 2

Stir the mixture and keep the consistency rather thick. If the mix is too thick, add 1 tsp. of water. Add only 1 tsp. of water at a time to prevent the mixture from becoming thin.

    • 3

Pour the mixture into a zip lock bag. Cut a hole on the top corner of the bag to provide easy squeezing.

    • 4

Grind up a chalk stick into powder. You can scrape the chalk against a cup for quick grinding. Add enough water to the powder to make a paint-like texture. (1 tbsp. of water can be added for one whole piece of chalk). The chalk can be applied onto sidewalks or driveways using paint brushes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mix different drops of food coloring together to create your own colors.
