How to Prevent Copper from Tarnishing

Copper is beautiful but it will tarnish over time. This tutorial will explain how to prevent your copper jewelry and other household goods from tarnishing.

Instructions

1. Polish your copper. Protect the polish by applying Renaissance Wax, SC Johnson Paste Wax, or a wax suitable to use on an automobile.

2. Clean and polish your copper.

   Protect the polished finish by applying Renaissance Wax, SC Johnson Paste Wax, or a wax suitable to use on an automobile.

4. Place your cleaned and waxed copper in a zip lock plastic bag.

5. 

   Add a silica-gel desiccant packet to the plastic bag.

   Silica-gel desiccant packets are often included in purchased items. Reusing silica-gel desiccant packet is a great way to recycle.

6. Press the air out of the plastic bag and then seal the plastic bag.
