How to Turn a Bed Into a Couch
If you're short on space, living in a small city apartment or in a dorm room, turning a bed into a couch for daytime use makes a bedroom multifunctional. You don't need a futon or a foldaway; any bed can be transformed into a couch with a few quick tricks. Position bed. When converting any bed to a couch, you can either position the mattress on top of box springs against a wall, or you can place the mattress on an elevated bed frame against a wall.

Use pillows to create a backing. One or two long body pillows (depending on the size of the bed you're converting) work very well as backings. Place the body pillows against the wall and cover them with a decorative sheet. Tuck the sheet around the pillows to create a look that's comfortable and convincing.

Roll throw blankets. A good way to create faux armrests on your bed-turned-couch is to roll up throw blankets. After rolling, place the throws on the sides of the bed where armrests would lie on a couch. If you like, you can tie ribbons around the rolled throws to make sure they stay rolled.

Decorate with throw pillows. When it comes to decorative throw pillows, its hard to overdo it. Choose colors that match and use varying sizes and shapes. The larger the bed, the more throw pillows you can use. It is also fairly easy to make your own pillows if you're trying to save money or add a personal touch to your home decor.
