How to Stop a Showerhead Drip

Leaking shower heads are annoying and waste water. Many people give up and just let them leak all the time. Why waste all that water when you can stop the leak? Stopping the leak is not as hard as it may seem. There are a couple of things that may help stop the leak for good. If it works for your shower head you will have peace and quiet and save money on your water bill.

Things You'll Need

• Small towel
• Wrench
• Pliers
• Screw driver
• Plumbers tape
• White vinegar
• Stiff brush
• Large bowl

Instructions

1. Wrap the shower head with a small towel. This will protect your shower head from getting scratched while you're working on it. The tools you will be using may scratch the shower head if it's not well protected.

2. Unscrew your shower head with pliers. Locate the washer in your shower head and remove it. Replace it with a brand new washer. Most shower heads leak because the washer is damaged.

3. Remove the faceplate to your shower head. Soak the showerhead overnight in a large bowl of white vinegar to loosen lime deposits.

4. Scrub the faceplate with a stiff brush. This will help remove any hard minerals that may be on the faceplate.

5. Put plumbers tape on the threads of your shower head. This can help prevent your shower head from leaking again. Now carefully screw your shower head back on to the wall of the shower. Turn your shower on and check to see if it's still dripping.
