Little girls around the world love princesses. Whether those princess come from a Disney movie or a traditional work of literature, they are characters that resonate with young girls (and some grown women). Make your princess-loving little girl's next party extra special by baking her princess cookies. Using basic sugar cookie dough, the right cookie cutters and colored frosting will turn an ordinary cookie into a gorgeous princess cookie.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sugar cookie dough
  • Flour
  • Rolling pin
  • Crown-shaped cookie cutter
  • Cookie sheet
  • Two containers of white icing
  • Two small bowls
  • Food coloring
  • Spoon
  • Butter knife
  • Piping bag
  1. Step 1

Prepare your sugar cookie dough mix the way you normally would and form into a ball. Gather the dough into your hands to create a ball.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle flour onto your countertop and place your ball of cookie dough in the center.

  3. Step 3

Sprinkle flour on top of the cookie dough ball and over your rolling pin.

  4. Step 4

Roll your cookie dough out so that it is flat and even.

  5. Step 5

Press your crown-shaped cookie cutter into the dough. Repeat until you have used all possible cookie dough.

  6. Step 6

Transfer your uncooked crown-shaped cookies to your cookie sheet using your spatula. Cook according to directions.

  7. Step 7

Pull the cookie tray from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely once they are done cooking.

  8. Step 8

Empty the contents of your white icing into your small bowls. Each container of icing should have its own bowl.

  9. Step 9

Add three drops of red food coloring to one bowl of white icing and stir. Add three drops of red food coloring and two drops of blue food coloring to the other bowl of icing. Stir well. You should now have one bowl of pink icing and one bowl of purple icing.

  10. Step 10

Dip your butter knife into the pink icing and frost your cookies.

  11. Step 11

Place the smallest piping tip into the piping bag and spoon the purple icing into the bag. Twist the bag, forcing the icing to the tip.

  12. Step 12

Pipe purple icing around the outline of the crown and write the word "princess" in the center. Repeat on all cookies and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have a piping bag, use a sandwich bag and clip off the end.
  • Supervise children around a hot oven.
