Write a list of flowers you'd like to purchase for your Valentine's Day bouquet. Think of flowers that your valentine might enjoy, or choose flowers based on the colors red, white, and pink in recognition of the holiday.

Take your list to the nearest flower market or grocery store. Ask a clerk if the store carries the flowers you would like to use, or look around the store to find flowers of the right color or shape you desire. Be sure the flowers you want to buy are fresh, in good condition, and come with a packet of flower preservative.

Purchase enough flowers, filler such as baby's breath, and greens like ferns or salal to fill your vase and make a full bouquet. Bring the flowers home and cut the stems diagonally two inches from the bottom of the stem. Fill the vase with warm water mixed with the flower food preservative.

Arrange the flowers in the vase so that the flowers are evenly spaced and that colors are spread evenly throughout the bouquet.
