Instructions

    • 1

Put 1 cup of the fresh sage into a plastic freezer bag. Squeeze as much of the air out of the bag as you can and seal it. Pound the bag about a dozen times with a rubber mallet to bruise the plant.

    • 2

Put the bruised sage into a wide-mouth glass jar and add 1/2 cup of olive oil. Screw the lid on tightly and place the jar near a sunny window or anywhere that will stay warm. Let the sage saturate the oil for no less than 48 hours.

    • 3

Strain the oil from the sage and pour the oil back into the jar. Discard the sage. You can now repeat the first three steps three or more times to get the desired potency for your sage perfume oil.

    • 4

Use a funnel to pour your sage perfume oil into a colored glass bottle to slow down the aging process. The oil will stay fresh for a year in the cabinet and even longer if it is kept in the fridge.
