One of the funnest parts of Halloween, besides dressing up in a fun costume, is getting loads of candy. However, as a parent, the idea of your child eating buckets of Halloween candies over the next few weeks may not be appealing to you. Rather than limiting your kids from how much candy they collect on Halloween, let them go ahead and have a good time...then introduce them to the Halloween Fairy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Halloween Candy
  • Special gift or surprise for your child
  1. Step 1

Decide on a reasonable amount of candy that you are okay with your child having. If your child(ren) are pretty young, 10 pieces of candy may be plenty.

  2. Step 2

Once your child comes home and excitedly dumps all their Halloween candy on the floor, have them pick out the designated amount of candy that they may keep.

  3. Step 3

Once they have selected the Halloween candies to keep, explain to them that the Halloween Fairy will be coming tonight. You can make up a fun story or just simply tell them that if they leave the rest of their candy on the front doorstep for the Halloween Fairy when they go to sleep, the Halloween Fairy will leave them a special surprise.

  4. Step 4

Have your child take their trick-or-treat bag or bucket filled with the remainder of their Halloween candies and place it on the front doorstep before they go to bed that night.

  5. Step 5

Once your child has gone to bed, remove the candy from the bucket and replace it with a special gift for your child. It could be a fun Halloween toy like a Halloween barbie dressed as a witch or whatever other fun surprise you think your child enjoy finding in the morning when they wake up.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can give away the remaining candy for the "halloween fairy".
  • If you don't get rid of the halloween candy for the "halloween fairy" right away, make sure you hide it well so your kids to find it.
  • If you have really young children who will be going out early, you can use their candy for the "halloween fairy" as the candy you leave out for trick-or-treaters. Just leave it in a bowl on your doorstep for kids to take.
  • You might want to include a new fun looking toothbrush with the halloween gift from the halloween fairy!
