How to Make a Paper Bouquet Holder

Bridal and wedding party bouquets are easily dressed up by simple but sophisticated-looking bouquet holders. While the options are endless for types of holders, one easy solution is to create your own using wallpaper and other tools and decorative accessories. In a few simple steps, you can have an elegant, handmade paper bouquet holder.

Things You'll Need

  • Bouquet holder pattern
  • Tracing paper
  • Pencil Scissors
  • Piece of pretty wallpaper (8-inch square)
  • Scalloped-edge scissors (large)
  • Silk ribbon (2 25-inch long pieces ½-wide ribbon in coordinating colors)
  • Craft glue
  • Download and print out a cone-shaped bouquet holder pattern from the Internet. Print the pattern out on 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper. Use a pencil and tracing paper to trace the cone shape. Cut out the shape with the scissors.

  • Cut out the enlarged cone pattern, and trace the shape on the back of a piece of wallpaper (a nice pattern paper that you want). Mark the dotted lines from the pattern as well. Use the scalloped-edge scissors to cut along the outside traced lines on the wallpaper. Do not cut along the dotted lines.

  • Begin to fold the cone-shaped piece of wallpaper along the dotted lines folding inward away from the pretty side of the wallpaper. Create a solid crease on each fold using either your finger or other utensil.

  • Cut one 10-inch piece of silk ribbon from each color. Match up the edges on either end, and tie a knot in the center of the pair.

  • Take the outer edges of the cone that you cut out, and overlap them 1 inch. Tuck the ribbon knot into bottom of the cone to let the ribbon ends hang from the bottom of the cone. Glue down the paper where you have overlapped it. You should now have a complete cone shape with ribbon hanging from the bottom. Finish the ribbon at the bottom by trimming the edges a 45-degree angle.

  • Using the leftover pieces of ribbon, cut one 6-inch and one 9-inch piece from each color. Line up the 9-inch pieces and wrap them around the top of the cone about a half inch from the top. Glue down the overlapped ends of the ribbon in the back. Line up the 6-inch pieces of ribbon, wrap them around the center of the cone, and glue down the overlapped ends in the back. You might want to add a dot of glue under each ribbon in the front of the cone to make sure they don't slip.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add any extra decorations to the completed bouquet holder. Glue tiny decorative flowers or rhinestones to the ribbons wrapped around the cone or hanging from the bottom. Also, you can add extra ribbon around the top edge of the bouquet holder by using a paper hole-punch, threading the ribbon through the holes, and tying it in bows or knots.
