How to Get Chocolate Out of a Mattress

R.L. Cultrona

Chocolate is one of the most delicious desserts you can have. It is perfect for after a meal and comes in many different varieties, which means you can find chocolate for whatever mood you are in. The problem with chocolate is that it can get messy and stain if it begins to melt.

If you are enjoying chocolate in bed, you have to watch out for stains which can get onto your mattress.

Tip

In addition to laundry detergent, you can use hand soap or dish detergent to clean the mattress fabric.

Warning

Make sure the iron is not too hot when heating the chocolate stain. You want to make sure it is hot enough to melt the chocolate, but not hot enough to cause damage to the mattress or spread the stain.

  1. Let the chocolate stain dry as much as possible. Once dry, scrape as much of the stain as you possibly can with the blunt surface.

  2. Place paper towels on what is left of the stain after the scraping is complete. Place an iron on the paper towel to melt what's left of the stain with the iron. Make sure the iron is on low heat.

  3. Clean the stain with the paper towel. Try to lift the towel straight up from the mattress to keep from spreading the stain.

  4. Place some laundry detergent on what is left of the stain. Scrub the laundry detergent with water and a lint free cloth. Let the mattress air-dry.
