Olive oil can be infused with herbs to apply externally to the skin. In addition to making wonderful skin moisturizer, the herb infused olive oil can serve as a massage oil or a base for making lotions, ointments, salves and lip balms.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3/4 cup fresh herb or 1/8 cup dried herb
  • 1 cup organic extra virgin olive oil
  1. Step 1

Chop 3/4 cup fresh herb, or 1/8 cup of dried herb in a food processor or grinder.

  2. Step 2

Place the herb into a sterile mason jar with a tight fitting lid.

  3. Step 3

Add 1 cup of organic extra virgin olive oil. Screw on the lid and shake well.

  4. Step 4

Place the jar near a window for 2 weeks. Shake the mixture daily, to help the herb become infused in the olive oil.

  5. Step 5

After 2 weeks has passed, strain the herb and discard it. Cheese cloth can be used for straining the herb. Squeeze the cheese cloth to remove all the olive oil from the herbs.

  6. Step 6

Place the herb infused olive oil in a dark colored bottle and label with the contents and date of preparation.
