1
Decide which pocket or pockets you'd like to add Velcro. Measure the length of the pocket, then determine how long you'd like your Velcro strip. Measure the strip to that length. Cut the Velcro strip to the desired length.
-
2
Position the cut Velcro strips on the pocket so they face one another and can fasten correctly. Sit one strip aside.

3
Thread your needle, whether you are sewing by hand or by machine. Spool out a decent amount of thread, then cut the thread and knot off the ends of it so the thread doesn't slip through the fabric, if sewing by hand.
-
4
Sew your strip onto the pocket, either by hand or by machine. If sewing by machine, position the pocket so that the Velcro is beneath the needle, then turn the machine on and let it sew one side, then turn the item of clothing repeatedly until all sides are sewn. If sewing by hand, make a simple stitch on the pocket and continue all the way around.
-
5
Flip the clothing inside out to reach the other side of the pocket. Put the other piece of Velcro back into the position you had put it in when testing positions, then follow the sewing step above.
