How to Make Curtain Rings

Save

Curtain rings can add designer flair to the average room. It's not necessary to spend large amounts of money to produce a stunning result. With some simple items you probably have around your house, you can create unusual curtain rings that will spruce up your home's decor.

Things You'll Need

  • Bangle bracelets
  • Wire cutters
  • Ribbon
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Scissors
  • Beaded necklaces

Bangle Rings

  • Gather several metal bangle bracelets and a wire cutter.

  • Make a single cut through each bracelet.

  • Bend the metal to form an opening that you can use to attach your curtain. Repeat this process for as many rings as you need.

Ribbon Rings

  • Gather ribbon that matches the decor of your room.

  • Measure out 8-inch strips of ribbon so that you have the same amount of strips as the number of curtain rings you will need.

  • Thread each strip of ribbon through the curtain ring holes and tie the ends into a bow, over the curtain rod. Leave enough of the ribbon to form a loop from which the curtain may attractively hang.

Beaded Rings

  • Gather some old beaded necklaces with attractive bobbles.

  • Cut the fastener from either end of one necklace.

  • Remove half of the beads.

  • Thread the beadless portion of the necklace through grommet holes in your curtain and tie both ends around the curtain rod, pulling the knot firm against the beads. Secure the knot and cut off any excess string.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add beads to your bangle curtain rings for a unique look. Use old scarves in place of ribbons to hang your curtain. Create figures from polymer clay to attach to the bangle rings for a personalized effect.
