How to Make a Pig Pinata
Pinatas are a great addition to any kind of party for kids, and making them can be a nice craft project as well. Make a piñata in the shape of a pig for your next party and fill it with small gifts or candy. The kids will enjoy making it, and breaking it open as well. Does this Spark an idea?

- Large balloon
- Newspaper
- Flour
- Water
- 6 small paper 3-ounce cups
- Crepe paper

Flow up a large party balloon. On the tied end, tape a 3-ounce paper cup for a snout. Tape four more small cups in place for feet. Cut the last cup in half top to bottom and cut down to make the shape of two ears.

Make the paste using 1 cup flour and 2 cups water. Whisk it together and heat it on the stove to thicken for about five minutes. Keep stirring and use medium heat so it does not get too thick. You can stop early if the consistency is right. Let it cool on the counter or in the refrigerator.

Cut newspaper into workable length strips about 1 1/2 inches wide. Coat the strips with paste and lay over the balloon figure. Do a single layer and then let it dry a bit before adding layers. Complete about three layers.

Use a serrated kitchen knife to cut three sides of a square into the bottom. Open the flap and fill with small prizes or candy and tape closed.

Paint the dry form with a pink base coat. When dry, glue on 1-inch squares of pink crepe paper. To do this, fold a square on the end of a pencil and dip it in glue then place on the pinata. You can do the eyes with different color crepe paper or put on felt or plastic eyes. Use a curled pipe cleaner for a tail.
