The Xbox 360 is a next-generation video game console developed by Microsoft. Xbox 360 is primarily a video game system, however, it has other multimedia functions, such as DVD and HD-DVD playback, streaming high definition video, episodic content (television and Internet-based), audio and video chat and avatar customization. All the functions can be rendered at 1080i, 1080p and 6.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. While the Xbox 360 is an HD device, it is still compatible with standard television sets using standard component cables. Because of this, it can also be connected to portable DVD players.
Things You'll Need
- RCA couplers (single or combined)
- Standard A/V cables for Xbox 360
Verify that your portable DVD player has a Video-In input. It looks like a small circular input that is usually found on the rear of the device.
Connect the RCA couplers to the Video-In input on the portable DVD player. You can use single couplers or the special kind that area attached (less wiring makes it more compact).
Connect the standard definition A/V cables (the red, white and yellow cables) from the Xbox 360 to the RCA couplers. Match each end to the appropriate color of the RCA cables.
Set the video mode of your portable DVD player to "Input." It may be something similar, like "Video." Turn the Xbox 360 on. It will display as normal in 480i mode.
