Body odor can creep on you and cause a most embarrassing predicament if not taken care of immediately. Body odor is natural but some are more afflicted by it than others. With a little awareness and a few simple precautionary measures, body odor can be easily controlled.
Things You'll Need
- Citrus fruit
- Germicidal soap
Bathe regularly. Depending on the severity of body odor, you may need to bathe more than once a day. Using a germicidal soap under your arms or wherever you perspire can help to cut back on odors. Cut up citrus fruit, such as lemons or oranges, and add to your bath water occasionally to help combat oily skin that may contribute to odor problems.
Wear clean clothes every day. It may help to wear natural fabrics such as cotton or silk that allow air to circulate and won't trap odors in.
Apply deodorant after your shower or before you get dressed. If your deodorant isn't lasting as long as it should, soak a clean cloth with apple cider vinegar and apply to the underarm area in place of deodorant.
Consider the foods that you eat. Some foods may contribute to body odor. Avoid garlic or anything with an overly strong odor of its own. Even caffeine and alcohol can contribute to the problem. Drink plenty of water to keep your system flushed of anything that can cause bad smells.
Shave excess body hair. Too much hair can trap odors in. By shaving you allow your skin to breathe easier as well as making it easier to clean.
Tips & Warnings
- If nothing works and the odor persists or worsens, speak to your doctor. Certain medications can also lead to your body producing strange odors.
