I love fish. I would not mind eating fish every day. What I do mind is the fish odor left on my hands after preparing fish. Fish odor is not easy to get rid of. Washing your hands with plain soap and water does not work to remove fish odors. There are a few specialty product sold specifically to remove fish odor. These products are expensive and oftentimes do not work any better than these simple old fashioned tips to remove fish odor. The next time you prepare fish keep these in mind.       Wash your hands with a mild dish detergent and sugar. Pour some mild dish detergent into the palm of your hand and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of plain sugar. Scrub your hands well for 2 to 3 minutes and rinse. This will remove fish odors and help to exfoliate the dry skin on your hands at the same time.

      Wash your hands in fresh lemon juice. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into each palm and around your finger and the rest of your hand. Let sit for a minute or 2 and rinse with plain water. Do not use lemon if you have small cuts because it will burn.

      Use stainless steel. Rub the front and backs of your hands over a stainless steel surface will remove fish odor. Use a stainless steel sink, pot or pan.
