How to Make Mary Kay Gift Baskets

- Grouping of three or five Mary Kay products in the same product line
- Ribbon
- Meat-packing paper

Look through your Mary Kay products and try to find three to five products that "fit" together. You can make a hand care basket by putting together three items in the Satin Hands product line. Also, you can group your bestselling products into a basket. Think of themes for the baskets as your inspiration. "A big fat lip" basket might include two new lipstick colors, a lip treatment and a lip plumping color. The more creative you are, the more likely you are to sell your basket.

Take the three to five items that you select and find a basket that fits the shape of the items. You want the basket to be full but not overflowing. The Mary Kay items should be the only things seen by the client--you do not want the meat-packing paper that you use as filler to show.

Fill the bottom of the basket with crumpled meat-packing paper. The paper is to provide the basis for the Mary Kay items that you are going to display. Meat-packing paper also minimizes mess when the package is opened.

Arrange the Mary Kay items in logical order. Make clean lines with the products. Either going front to back or left to right, arrange the products from the smallest to the largest. Once the products are arranged in a visually pleasing manner, tape the bottom of the items to the meat-packing paper. This helps to keep the items in the basket.

Make a bow out of the ribbon. Place the bow on the side of the basket to add a little flair. Make sure the bow matches the items--if the majority of the items have pink on the bottles, add a pink bow. The bow is not a necessary step, but it completes the overall look of the package.

The key is to make the basket visually pleasing. Look at what you make with an objective eye. Would you buy it? Does it look professional? If you struggle with making the ribbons, find a friend who makes beautiful ribbons and ask her to give you a lesson. If you do not know of anyone who can make nice bows, go to a local florist and see if someone there will give you some tips on how to improve your technique.
Make sure to price your basket high enough to cover all of your supplies. The key is to make sure that you still make a profit. Comb through clearance sells at your local craft store to get the best deals on ribbon and baskets. Do not price the gift basket much higher than it costs you to purchase the items themselves.
