A three tier cake can add a professional touch to any event whether it be a holiday, birthday or wedding celebration. Three tier cakes may appear quite difficult to make, but are in fact as simple as creating three different sized cakes and stacking them on top of each other. A three tier cake can be created within a few hours.
Things You'll Need
- 12 inch cake pan
- 8 inch cake pan
- 6 inch cake pan
- Non-stick cooking spray or vegetable oil
- Waxed paper
- 2 cake mixes
- Cake plate
- Rubber spatula
- Large spatula
- Cake decorations
- Icing tubes
Spray all three pans with a non-stick cooking spray or spread vegetable oil evenly over the pans. Put one sheet of waxed paper in the bottom of each pan and then use a cooking spray or oil on the paper. Sprinkle some flour over the oil on the waxed paper. This will prevent sticking and allow the cake to come out of the pans smoothly.
Mix both cakes by following the instructions on the boxes.
Pour the complete cake mix into each pan. Cook according to the time given on the cake mix boxes.
Take the cakes out of the oven when they are finished baking. Allow the cakes to cool completely before working with them.
Place the largest cake upside down onto a cake plate that is lined with waxed paper.
Frost the cake using a rubber spatula. Spread the frosting over the entire cake, being sure that it is smooth.
Place the medium cake onto another plate or a counter lined with waxed paper. Use a clean spatula under the cake to help carefully move it to the large cake and place evenly on top. Be sure that the medium cake is placed in the center.
Frost the medium cake evenly with a rubber spatula.
Repeat steps 7 and 8 with the small cake.
Add decorations to the cake with candies and other decorating tools. To practice, create an outline on a sheet of cardboard first.
