Drawing silly pumpkin faces is an inexpensive way to create original Halloween decorations, requiring only some basic supplies and your imagination. Pumpkin faces don't have to be scary, and silly pumpkin faces are especially easy to draw. Get your family together, have fun and create some whimsical variations on the standard jack-o'-lantern theme. Make as many silly pumpkin faces as you like and hang them in your doorways and on your windows and walls.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bowl or plate
  • Orange construction paper
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Black marker
  • Crayons
  • Curling ribbon
  • Craft glue
  1. Step 1

Begin by making a circle for your pumpkin face. Use a bowl or plate for a pattern and trace around it with a pencil on a piece of orange construction paper. Lay a ruler across the middle of your circle and draw a line to divide the circle in half horizontally. Do the same thing for a vertical line through the center of your circle.

  2. Step 2

Sketch eyes in the top half of your circle, one on each side. There are many ways to give your pumpkin a silly face. Draw one closed eye and one open eye to create a winking pumpkin. Slant the lines slightly for a puzzled expression, or make your pumpkin face look surprised with round eyes. Crossed eyes can give your pumpkin face a goofy appearance. Next, draw eyebrows on your pumpkin face.

  3. Step 3

Draw a nose in the middle of the face and make it as silly as you like. Give your pumpkin face a round clown nose, a square robotic nose, a crooked S-shaped nose, or draw two small nostrils to give your silly pumpkin face a piggy appearance.

  4. Step 4

Add a mouth below the nose to complete your silly pumpkin face. Make a big, goofy smile, or draw a circle to make your pumpkin look surprised. Have some fun and give your pumpkin some buck teeth or a mustache for an especially whimsical appearance.

  5. Step 5

Outline the pencil lines with a black crayon or marker so the face will show up. Top it off with a funny hair style. You can draw the hair with markers or crayons, or you can glue on some brightly-colored curling ribbon. Decorate your pumpkin face with crayons, if you like. Hang your finished silly pumpkin face where everybody can see it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use your silly pumpkin face as a pattern to create a one-of-a-kind jack o'-lantern. Simply lay the finished drawing on your pumpkin, poke a pin through the paper to create an outline and carve as usual.
