How to Roast a Sweet Potato or any Potato on your Grill

Sweet potatoes are a tasty addition to any barbecued meal and a nice alternative to regular potatoes. They are easy to cook and, because of their natural sweetness, require few ingredients to be added. Grill sweet potatoes right beside the meat on your barbecue and enjoy a delicious meal in the warm weather.

Things You'll Need

  • 6-8 sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • 2 tbsp. no-salt seasoning
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Peel and cut sweet potatoes into cubes and onion into wedges. Place in a bowl and put to the side.

  • Melt butter in saucepan and add olive oil, garlic cloves (whole or minced), seasoning and cayenne pepper.

  • Pour everything from the saucepan over the potatoes and onions and mix well.

  • Portion mixture evenly onto enough pieces of tin foil. Have one piece of tin foil for each person who will be eating.

  • Wrap the foil tightly around each portion and seal.

  • Place on barbecue for 20 to 30 minutes or until potatoes are soft.

Tips & Warnings

  • To add more flavor, include other items such as peppers and mushrooms in the foil packet.
