Make a Candy Buffet of Your Dreams For Your Wedding

Candy Buffets are the newest trend at weddings. They can bring a fun and playful theme to any wedding. These are a few pointers to having the best candy buffet ever!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glass containers
  • 23-30 Lbs of candy
  • table cloth
  • sign
  • candy scoops
  • cellophane bags
  1. Step 1

First you will need to calculate how many people will be attending your reception dinner. The general rule of thumb is about 1/4-1/2 lb of candy per person. So if you have an even 100 people attending you will need at least 40 lbs of candy. The more candy that you have the better your buffet will look.

  2. Step 2

Find all sorts of fun glass containers. I shopped at Michael's Craft Store. I was able to find a lot of cute glass vases there. I got one that is a giant martini glass, a giant wine glass and a giant champagne glass, SO CUTE! They ran me about $15-$20 per container. The rest I was able to find around my house, believe it or not! If you look for something specific in your home it will surprise you that you have more than you thought. I also found a lot of cute little ones at the dollar store. That will save you lots of money.

  3. Step 3

Pick a color scheme. The color scheme for my candy buffet is pink and green. I ordered the candy in bulk on line. I was able to find all different sorts of fun candy. You also want to take into consideration the weather. My wedding is in Costa Rica, so no chocolate for me! :( I had to get all hard candy or gummy candy. Something that will not melt so easy.

You also want to get a table cloth that will not distract from the colors that you are doing. In other words, try not to make it to matchy matchy. Where we are having our wedding I knew that we were stuck with a peachy colored table cloth. So I just ordered some orange candy to throw in there and it totally popped!

  4. Step 4

You can also make a sign that would be cute for the guests to read. Our' s will say "Kristyn and Phil's Sweet Shop". That is just one example. You could also write down a sweet poem that you like and put it in a picture frame.

  5. Step 5

This is my gift to the guests to take home with them. I provided cute little cellophane bags for them to take home their sweet treat. Our wedding is in January. I have been planning on doing this for a while, and I have to say, It is coming out AWESOME! It is something different that not a lot of people have seen before. I'm sure yours will leave an everlasting impression on your guests also!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep the candy matching colors.
  • Supply scoops so the guest can get the candy without using their fingers
  • You can also add your wedding cake on the same table, maybe even with some flowers to!
  • Do not get candy that will melt in the heat or freeze in the cold
