Things You'll Need:
- A large pot.
- A sink full of ice
- Corn
- ZipLock Bags
- Freezer
-
Step 1
Go to the store or farmers market and buy as much corn as you want to prepare for the winter season.
-
Step 2
Husk all the corn. While you are husking the corn put a BIG pot of water on the stove. Turn the heat on high. Cover with a lid (this will help the water to begin the boiling process much faster).
-
Step 3
Once the water is to a full boil add one piece of corn at a time. How much to add depends on how big your pot is. Only add as many pieces of corn to your pot so that each piece is fully covered by the water.
-
Step 4
Once water returns to a full again, boil for five minutes. Put the water stopper in your clean sink. Add about a gallon of cold water in the sink and add the ice (about a five pound bag is good to start). Lay out clean towels on your counter top, next to the sink and have the Zip Lock bags next to the towels.
-
Step 5
Remove from boiling water - one piece at a time. Tongs are the best utensil to use. Place directly into the ice water. Do this until the pot is empty of corn. Let the water return to a full boil again before adding more corn to repeat the above two steps until all corn is cooked.
-
Step 6
Leave the corn in the ice water for about three minutes. Take each piece out and place on towel.
-
Step 7
Add as many pieces to a Zip Lock bag that you will want to get out for a dinner, or whatever gathering, in the future. For example if you are a family of five you will want to use the large Zip Lock bags and probably have 5 to 6 pieces per bag for future dinners.
-
Step 8
Repeat the above two steps until all corn is bagged. Then put all sealed bags into your freezer. And you will be able to enjoy that wonderful corn anytime you wish!
-
Step 9
When the day comes to enjoy some of the corn you can place the corn in a shallow microwave dish with little water to cover the bottom of the dish. Microwave two to three minutes (depending on your microwave) and enjoy.
