How to Draw Cute Girly Animals

Animals are easy to draw and are an enjoyable way to teach young children about basic shapes. Inspire kids' creativity by going to a petting zoo or perusing their favorite books to spot animals. Once done, talk about what animals you have seen and what shapes they recognized when looking at the animals. The drawings are a great way to personalize a card or a notebook.

Instructions

Monkey

1. 

   Using a pencil, draw a circle for the head and a jellybean shape for the mouth area. Make a curved "U" shape attached to the bottom of the head. (This will become the body.)

2. 

   Erase the inner lines. Draw a smaller "U" shape in the body to make the belly. Place two "C" shapes on either side of the head for the ears.

3. 

   Two small ovals will become the eyes and two small upside-down "C" shapes will become the nostrils. Draw a small fringe of hair on the top of the head, which is made of three curved triangles. Make a smile on the monkey by drawing a small arc.

4. 

   The arms and legs are made of two small, curved lines each that come together at the ends.

5. 

   Draw hands and feet at the ends of the arms and legs, and a curved line will become the tail.

6. 

   Trace the drawing with pen and erase the pencil lines when the ink is dry.

7. 

   Add color to complete.

Turtle

1. 

   Draw a bell or mushroom shape for the shell.

2. 

   Place four rounded rectangles coming out of the shell for the legs. Draw a curved line for the neck and a circle shape for the head.

3. 

   Make two small ovals in the head for the eye, and add two ovals per foot to make the nails. Place a half-circle on top of the mouth for the cheek. The pattern on the shell is made up of four curved lines.

4. 

   Go over the drawing with pen. Erase the pencil lines once the pen is dry.

5. 

   Color the turtle with your desired colors.

Lamb

1. 

   Draw an oval for the body, a circle for the head and four rounded rectangles for legs.

2. 

   Place an oval on the top of the head and a smaller oval for the tail. The two ears will be made out of slightly curved ovals. Erase inner lines.

3. 

   Draw two small ovals for the eyes, a triangle for the nose and the mouth is made out of a curved "W" shape (like a cat's mouth). In each foot, draw two small lines to divide it up into toes. Make the coat fluffy, like a cloud.

4. 

   Trace the drawing with pen and erase the pencil once the ink is dry.

5. 

   Add some color and the lamb is complete.
