Things You'll Need:
- Asparagus
- 2 Microwave-safe plates
- Water
-
Step 1
Cut or break off the ends of the asparagus because they can be dry and fibrous. Leave the pointed ends intact.
-
Step 2
Lay the asparagus in a single layer on a plate.
-
Step 3
Pour water into the plate. Make sure you do not spill!
-
Step 4
Cover the asparagus with another plate that is turned upside down to create a lid.
-
Step 5
Microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes. Poke an asparagus stem with a fork to see if it is done. It will probably be very firm still.
-
Step 6
Cook for another 2-4 minutes until it has softened a bit. Some people like it crunchier than others.
-
Step 7
Serve hot. Asparagus tastes great plain, but also pairs well with many sauces.

on 7/7/2009 I haven't always been a fan of cooking in a microwave, but it really is a quick and easy way to cook veggies. Next time I have some asparagus, I will have to give this a try!
