The files in the computer always have a date stamp attached to it, showing the date or time the files were created. However, you might want to change the file date for putting the files in order. There are several tools or software programs available for this job. The easiest method would be to use the "Properties" dialog box in Windows. Follow the steps below to change the file's date.

      Click "Start" and then click "Search" and select "For files or folders." You also could press the "Windows" and the "F" keys simultaneously to get to the search window.

      Enter the desired file name in the search box and also enter the search locations. Click the "Search" button to start.

      Search result appears. Locate the desired file and select it. Right click on the selected file and select the "Properties" from the context menu.

      Click on the "Date" (or "Details") tab that appears on the top of the properties dialog box and look for the file creation date. Select it and enter the desired date for the file.

      Click "Apply" to complete the changes and click "OK" to exit the dialog box.
